Zjwingelput Mergraote (Margraten)
The zwingelput of Margraten, located at the corner of Sprinkstraat and Pastoor Brouwersstraat, stands idyllically under a large stately plane tree directly opposite the church. The wooden shelter is supported by a parapet of marl blocks and is covered with roof tiles. The well of Margraten is still fully intact. The well of Margraten is about 78 meters deep and still contains water. In 2015, as part of the redevelopment of the core area of Margraten, a water feature was created around the well, allowing water to "flow" from the well again.
The attached photos depict the situation as of 2015 and an old postcard that illustrates the situation in 1900.
