Mheer Castle is located on the Dorpsstraat in the heart of the village of the same name, in the Limburg municipality of Margraten. The castle already existed in the fourteenth century. In 1314 it was listed as a 'stone house'. The flint wall work and laid in a herringbone bond is even reminiscent of the ninth century. The castle complex consists of a four-tiered castle and a U-shaped courtyard. Since 1668, Mheer Castle has been continuously inhabited by the de Loè family.
