Sint Antoniusbank 27, Sint Antoniusbank: Hoeve Sint Anthoniusbank
Sint-Anthoniusbank is a large enclosed farm in the hamlet of the same name, which is now part of the village of Bemelen. The living area was probably the owner's country residence in the eighteenth century.
Until the arrival of Napoleon, Sint-Anthoniusbank was a small, free seigneury.
Of the fifteenth-century farmhouse, which seems to have had no defensive function, only a few wall fragments of rubble stone work remain. The large granary forms the rear part of the complex in a square courtyard. On the northeast corner is the mansion from the seventeenth century, which projectes to the street. A few modern barns have been built against the southwest corner. The garden in front of the mansion contains some fifteenth-century natural stone building elements, the origin of which is unclear.
The grounds of Hoeve Sint Anthoniusbank are private property. We ask you to respect this.
