St. Martinus Church, Breust (Eijsden)
We are now in the hamlet of Breust. Pay particular attention to the monumental farms and the picturesque church square surrounding the church, dedicated to the patron of the parish, St. Martin. The St. Martinus Church consists of a three-nave structure with a west tower and a semicircular closed choir with a sacristy on either side. The nave and the aisles are separated by hard stone columns with Maas capitals on which pointed arches rest. The tower is built of marl stone, while the outer walls of the aisles are made of brick on a plinth of coal sandstone. The church acquired its current form after expansion and restoration in 1851-1852. Inside this church, there is a monumental organ from the firm Pereboom & Leijser, which has been recently restored. The extension on the north side by the sacristy provides access to the crypt of the noble family De Geloes, former owners and residents of Eijsden Castle (and Oost).
