Dolmen with bread

Hunebed met brood is located in the village of Valthe, located on the Hondsrug in Drenthe is an ideal environment for hikers, cyclists and peace seekers. When you leave our garden you are almost immediately in the Valtherbos. There are 2 spacious rooms with box-spring beds. There is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and coffee/tea making facilities. The extensive breakfast is served in a separate room, adjacent to the room.

Valthe is the smallest of the three 'sand villages' (villages on the sandy soils) that made up the Odoorn kerspel until peat extraction. Until the seventeenth century, the Valtherschans was located near the village, which was part of the defense line of the Netherlands against, among others, Bommen Berend, the bishop of Münster. Around Valthe there are 5 dolmens. Hunebed D31 is located in Hunzebos between Exloo and Valthe, dolmen D34 is located south of the road Valthe - Odoorn. D35 is located south of the road Valthe - Klijndijk on the northern edge of the Valtherbos and the dolmens D36 and D37 are located on the southern edge of the village of Valthe. These 2 dolmens are called "The Valther Twins" because of their location. The neglected dolmen D33 was demolished in 1955 for the restoration of the Papeloze church.
