Campsite Twilhaar

Camping Twilhaar is a nature campsite located in the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, on the edge of the forest, surrounded by heathlands where you regularly meet the shepherd with his sheep. An encounter with a deer is not inconceivable. There are also all kinds of songbirds such as pied flycatcher and collared redstart, woodpeckers and birds of prey. The nightjar comes to the edge of the campsite in summer!

About the site

The camping site is basic, there is no electricity, pure nature with really dark nights. The toilet block has a hot shower, toilets, washing facilities and a washing-up area with hot water. There are 16 pitches on the large field (without dogs) and 14 private 'niches' in the forest (dogs welcome). There are 2 shelters, especially for trekkers when the weather is a bit bad. In one of these you can also roll out your mat with sleeping bag, according to Swedish concept. There is plenty of room for hammocks! A central fire area for a cozy campfire and a few fire bowls are available. You can also bring your own, provided you have legs of min. 20 cm.

In the summer but also around Ascension and Pentecost it can be busy. We always put the current occupancy on our website. You can't make a reservation, you choose one of the 30 numbered places yourself. For trekkers, walking (Pieterpad!) or by bike, there is always room! At the parking lot is the registration point with all information. The managers come by at least 1x a day to greet the guests.

What can you do?
Hiking with beautiful views from the ridge, this can be done on many more trails than the marked routes, recommended if you like adventure! Discover the fairytale Tower of Palthe with its witch's house in the forest...

MTB routes almost pass by the campsite. Both to the north and to the south you will get your money's worth here with your MTB (also for rent in Haarle or Hellendoorn). There are also a lot of regular cycle paths!
