Sheepfold Twilhaar

He's not really old, the current sheepfold. The building was erected in 1977. But in the past there were sheepfolds in the same place before. Long before the 70s, sheep herds were already walking on the Salland heath.

At the end of the last century, the use of sheep herds was temporarily out of use. The building lost its original function and only served as a storage room. With the establishment of the foundation, the sheepfold regained its original function. A team of volunteers gave the building and the surrounding grounds a major makeover in recent years.

Agricultural enclave Twilhaar

The history of Twilhaar starts around 1800. Then the heathland was inhabited for the first time, mainly by farmers. An enclave was created in which agriculture was the main activity. Over the years, the surrounding farms disappeared and the agricultural branch died out. Reviving this medieval system in a modern way is an attractive dream for the future for the foundation.
