North of the residential core are two old waterwipmolens: the Westbroekse Molen (largest in the province of Utrecht, from 1753) and the Buitenwegse Molen (the smallest in the province of Utrecht, from 1830). The last one burned down in March 2016 and there is currently a crowdfunding campaign to rebuild it (https://www.voorjebuurt.nl/campaigns/molenoudzuilen/)
A seesaw water mill traditionally maintains the polder water level. The oldest in the Netherlands is from 1407, so since then we have polders in the Netherlands.
