There was already a church on the mountain from the Middle Ages, the tower of which dates from around 1300. This tower was restored in 1648.
On the east side was the church building, now a parking lot has been built here. From 1649 onwards, the medieval church served as a simultaneous church for both Catholics and Protestants.
In 1669-1671 the High German Reformed congregation had a classicist hall church built on the north side. In the meantime, the older building remained in use by the Catholics and in 1754 the medieval church building (the Catholic part) was replaced by a Baroque church. After the demolition of this church in 1967, the Reformed church building with the old church tower remained. For Catholics, St. Paul's Church was built at the end of the 19th century. The reformed church is a national monument.
The Dutch Reformed Church is the highest church in the Netherlands!
