Nature Transferium Biesenhof

At the foot of the Sweikhuizerberg, in the stunning surroundings of the Geleenbeekdal and the Stammenderbos, you will find the Nature Transferium Biesenhof. This typical Limburg square farm has a rich history.
The first preserved documents date back to 1259 and mention the sale of a building with land to the Teutonic Order. Not long after, the Teutonic Order established a commandery here. This had both a spiritual and a military function.

The 750-year-old farm has been completely restored and now features a restaurant, brasserie, and winter garden. Here you will find all the ingredients for an enjoyable day out: nature, culture, good food, folklore, and monuments.
The area is one of the most beautiful walking regions in South Limburg. Various hiking routes, such as the Pieterpad, traverse the walking areas. The nature around the Geleenbeek has been completely redesigned under the name Corio Glana. Walk from the nature transferium downstream to the center of Sittard or upstream to Benzenrade in Heerlen.
It is also possible to go mountain biking here via the Windraak route or cycling through the international cycling junction network. The nature transferium Biesenhof can be reached by following the cycling junctions from 37 to 114 (the transferium is located on the opposite side of the tracks) or by entering Biesenweg 1 in Geleen into your navigation.
