The Aardjesberg on the Westerheide in Hilversum is a place where archaeological finds have been made from almost all periods. Especially the finds from the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age are unique for the Netherlands. These finds date from around 1100 to 700 BC. The Aardjesberg is located between the ridges of Hilversum and those of Laren and Huizen and is at its highest point 15.50 m above sea level. The Aardjesberg was a very attractive settlement site. The appeal of this area was partly due to the fact that several types of landscapes, such as forests and heath, could be found close to each other. There was also a lot of surface water present.
