Chevremont is originally a village in the municipality of Kerkrade. In the 21st century, it forms a district of Kerkrade. The name Chevremont comes from a faulty French translation of the Latin cavatum montem, which loosely translates to steep mountain with a descent to the hollow road. Around 1363, the area Chevremont was referred to as Schaveymont. Chevremont is located on the Plateau of Kerkrade. To the east of Chevremont lies the Berenbos, containing the remnants of a spoil tip from the Domaniale mine, the Spoil Tip Beerenbosch.
