The monastery of Sint Catharinadal was built on this site in 1295.
In the convent there was a community of Norbertines, so-called cloistered nuns.
Previously, the monastery was located in Wouw. The current building, in which the original function is still clearly recognizable, was built in 1501-1504 by the Breda master builder Cornelis Jooss.
In 1645 the sisters moved to Oosterhout, where they are still located today.
After that, the building had all kinds of functions. In 1814 it was converted into barracks. This barracks, in turn, was converted into a casino a few years ago.
