The chapel at the junction of Oekelsestraat, Schriekenweg and Gelderdonksestraat is dedicated to Our Lady of Peace. This chapel was built out of gratitude that the neighborhood was spared from the violence of war. The local residents raised the financial resources, including a contribution from a German soldier. On a piece of land that was ceded by Adr. Martens - Heest, with stones that were intended for the St. Amandus Chapel to be built, the chapel was built in 1944 - 1945 to a design by architect Oomen from Oosterhout.
The statue was donated by the widow H. Maes-van der Sanden on the occasion of her 80th birthday. On her birthday, March 25, 1945, the chapel was consecrated by Pastor Verbunt.
In 1974, the Oekelsestraat and the Schriekenweg were widened. The cobblestones were replaced by asphalt and the chapel had to make way for traffic on 15 May 1974. One of the local residents still had an old drawing of the demolished chapel. According to this drawing, the chapel has been rebuilt. The land for this was made available by Jan Martens. This chapel is a few meters back from the old one. Father Verheije consecrated the chapel on May 4, 2003.
