The former inn 'De Zwaan' in Loveren is not only a tourist attraction because of the Belgian-Dutch border that runs right through the front door. According to oral tradition, Hugo Grotius also spent the night there in the night of 22 to 23 March 1621 during his flight from Gorinchem to Antwerp.
However, research has shown that this is a myth. In reality, Hugo Grotius travelled continuously from Waalwijk to Antwerp during the night of flight.
