The Hochterhof
On 30 June 1261, Bernard van Stolberg and his wife Beatrice as Lord and Lady of Gronsveld gave to the Abbess and the monastery of Hocht, with the consent of chief liege lord Walram, Duke of Limburg and of Walram and also Lord of Monschau, their fief court in Eckelrade with house and a bunder of land against payment of 42 Liège Pounds. Later, difficulties arose between the Lord of Gronsveld and the Abbess of Hocht. On 3 July 1414 these were resolved by an amicable settlement. Henry I, Lord of Gronsveld and Rimburg, renounces all rights and claims to the possessions in Eckelrade, namely the Monckshof in Sint Geertruid, and the Abbess pays a sum of money for this.
On 15 May 1735, an exchange of land took place between the Abbess of Hocht, Thérèse Baronesse van Leefdael and the knight Jean-Baptiste de Bounam, Baron van Ryckholt. The latter relinquishes sixteen rods of land and in exchange receives the edge of the forest in Sint Geertruid.
Above the entrance to the house is carved in a bluestone plaque for eternity the year 1734 and the coat of arms with motto of the Abbess, namely: VIS UNITA FOBTIOR, which means united strength is stronger. (source: Heemkundevereniging Sint Geertruid)
