The Roode Hert is a former inn and hotel, located at the Haagsemarkt in Princenhage in Breda.
The first Hert was built in 1510-1511. In 1518, Gieles Beys bought the building and turned it into an inn. It was burned down in 1612 during a village fire. In 1615, Jonker Michel du Blioul built a new inn.
From 1675 to 1710, there was a brewery by Jacob Schellekens behind the inn.
In 1741, Dingeman van Ginneken operated a grocery store there. Hendrik Schrouwen bought the Roode Hert in 1832.
Between 1832 and 1837, a renovation took place. Until 1836, the Roode Hert had brick facades.
From 1837 to 1935, the front facade was plastered. Johannes Lips and Barbara Donkers renovated it in 1884.
In 1935, a major renovation took place by Mathieu Lips and Adriana Bink. The café section and the hall received large windows. It became an open living room in the Haagje. There were no changes until 1976. In 1990, Piet de Jong had the former garage converted into a restaurant. Since 1935, the exterior facade has not changed.
At Het Roode Hert, there was also a station of the steam tram of the Zuid-Nederlandsche Stoomtramweg-Maatschappij (ZNSM).
