It is certain that the mill already existed in 1350 and was expanded into a double mill, half of which was located on the territory of Riethoven. The owner at the time was the Abbey of Echternach, which led to reclamations, which increased the need for milling capacity. The Riethoven mill was used as an oil mill and the Waalrese mill as a corn mill.
