The St. Anthony's Church from 1950 is a three-aisled church in basilica style, with a porch with a lectern roof. The building replaced a predecessor destroyed by war.
Lepelstraat played an important role in the ecclesiastical history of Halsteren in the seventeenth century.
In 1647 a (RK) hidden church was established in Lepelstraat.
After the church of Halsteren came into the hands of the Protestants in 1647, the Friars Minor proceeded to hold church services in the Celse Hoeve in Lepelstraat, which was allowed blindly.
This created a barn church, which was renewed in 1768. Although in 1802 the Halsteren Catholics regained their church, the barn church also remained in use, and it remained in fact the main church of the now two-church parish.
It was not until 1830 that the parish was split and the parish of Lepelstraat was created. In the following years the barn church was enlarged, but in 1875 it was replaced by a larger structure.
When the Allies advanced from the south on 26 October 1944, the Battle of Lepelstraat began. On October 28, the Germans withdrew, having first blown up the tower.
In 1948, the rebuilding of the church began, with a basilica-style front erected, but the tower was no longer rebuilt.
