Origin
At the Boomdijk in Halsteren there are four concrete shelters from the First World War. They were part of the infantry support point on the road to Tholen and were part of the 'Stelling West North Brabant'. This military-position was made during the First World War to defend Dutch neutrality in the event of a French / British invasion in Zeeland. According to the Dutch general staff, the Brabant Wal offered good opportunities to catch an invasion.
Removal
Early 2014, two of the shelters moved to the edge of the road to remove obstacles that landowners encountered in their work.
