From GP214 to GP215, about 50 km further, no official border was established in 1843. Instead, the land to which it belongs was determined from plot to parcel. It was referred to as "the gap in the border" between Belgium and the Netherlands. The boundaries of the enclaves were also not clearly defined. This situation lasted until 1974, when the (large) border was officially established. As a symbol of this, a replica of a border post was erected in the centre of Baarle. The boundary marker was numbered 214-215. The year 1198 refers to the origins of the village. Later in 1995, the boundaries of the enclaves were also officially established.
Here the border (where the path goes back to Baarle after 260m) has a slight bend. Both in a westerly and easterly direction, the border is a dead straight border for more than 3 km.
