The Wing is a monument that commemorates the history of Soesterberg as an aviation village. A sign reads: Cradle of Dutch aviation (1910) and the Royal Air Force (1913). The sculpture was installed on July 1, 1998, by artist Jan de Baat (1921-2010). The sculpture, in the shape of the wing of a stealth bomber, is made of stainless steel. The blue-gray color of the base symbolizes the air force.
