Description

The bicycle bridge over the Grift has been anchored and in place since 2011. The bridge connects the Wageningen Binnenveld near the Veenkampen with the Achterbergse Binnenveld on the other side and was officially opened on 18 November, at the same time as a Klompenpad through the Binnenveld.
The construction of the bicycle bridge cost 200,000 euros. Wageningen and the WERV project Fietsnetwerk Binnenveld jointly raised the money. Within a year, the rust-free handrails were stolen at night!

Note the direction of the flow of the Grift, which used to be reversed, to the south, i.e. the Rhine. After the silencing, the land in the Valley became lower, so the Grift started to flow differently, to the North (Zuiderzee / IJsselmeer)
