Description

Former WEIGHBRIDGE HOUSE with WEIGHBRIDGE built in 1925/26 on behalf of the Coöperatieve Weegbrug-Vereeniging in Warffum. For this purpose, the association purchased a piece of land from R. Clevering in 1925. The whole was designed by architect A. Lanting from Warffum. In the weighbridge house there was an office and a basement in which the bridge is installed. In 1964 the weighbridge was sold because the ramp to the bridge became too tight for the ever-longer trucks. The weighing device has been removed and now the building has the function of a workshop. The striking yellow wooden building is located in the bend of the Oosterstraat on a spacious plot of land. A concrete path leads to the entrance and turns into a narrow path on the other side to the driveway of the adjacent house Oosterstraat 4. It is the only remaining weighbridge house of this type in the province of Groninge
