Kandelaar or De Kandelaar is a hamlet consisting of about thirty houses and farms that is now part of the Rotterdam district of Overschie. Kandelaar is located between Delft and the Schiedam district of Kethel on the west side of the Delftse Schie, just north of where the Poldervaart flows into the Schie. To the north of Kandelaar lies Zweth on the east side of the Schie. The south of Kandelaar is directly opposite crematorium Hofwijk. Since the end of the 20th century, the Kandelaar Bridge, a bike and pedestrian bridge that replaced an earlier ferry, has been located to the north of Kandelaar and Zweth.
