The castle is surrounded by a double moat and once you walk over the drawbridge, you will immediately feel like you are in the Middle Ages. The centuries-old courtyard exudes the well-known Brabant hospitality. The castle also has a stately armory and beautifully restored cellar vaults. Once even Napoleon was a guest there and the "Peace of Heeswijk" was also concluded. Other places of interest are the Norbertine Abbey of Berne and Pheasant Farm de Rooie Hoeve where you will find the largest collection of phasianidae in Europe. In the voilières of the bird park, in addition to ornamental pheasants, you can also admire crested fowl, fowl and peacocks
