Hoge Ginkel is a nature reserve between Amerongen and Leersum in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The area lies between the Scherpenzeelseweg in the west extends to approximately the Bergweg north of Amerongen. The name comes from the Leersumer hamlet Ginkel which in 1840 had 19 houses with 113 inhabitants.
The Hoge Ginkel is originally privately owned. Since 1975, Het Utrechts Landschap has owned part of the Hoge Ginkel estate.
The snowmelt water valleys cause height differences in the area. The valleys arose in the last ice age, the Weichselian. Because the soil was permanently frozen, the meltwater could not penetrate the soil. The water flowed down from the slopes. The formed gullies can be recognized as elongated lows in the forest.
