The first piece

Vereniging 't Eerste Stuk is a volunteer organization that is committed to nature and landscape management in Oude Wetering (South Holland). The organization consists of a board and members and is supported by donors. We receive grants, dues, donations and donations for the purchase and maintenance of materials and tools, training and other expenses.

History

We manage a landscape element on the Achterweg, Molenweg and Korte Oostweg, on the border between a peat meadow and greenhouse area. The land is owned by the municipality of Kaag en Braassem. In the early nineties of the last century, a third horticultural area was created here. To compensate for the loss of nature and landscape, the Grontmij created a piece of nature here in 1992. Since December 1997, this unique piece of new nature has been managed by Vereniging 't Eerste Stuk.

Policy and management

Our association strives for a mix of nature and landscape with an area-specific character. To achieve this, we have made a policy and management plan. The policy plan contains our principles and objectives. The management plan is a guideline for the work per season. At the beginning of each year we draw up an activity calendar, in which we record the activities and activities per month. Our association works with professional equipment and tools. Safety comes first. During the work, our volunteers are insured through De Groene Motor.

Every first Saturday of the month

Basically, we get together every first Saturday of the month to work together in nature. We start at 10 am, drink coffee together in between and work until lunchtime. Occasionally we also work on other days or in the evening. On request, we also work at other locations in the area.
