Fort Hedikhuizen is a former fort that used to protect the nearby breach (a hole in the dike for flooding). If you want to reach the fort today, you still literally have to go through that hole. Fortunately, you won't find any soldiers there anymore. The lock has been restored this century and holds the status of a national monument. The 19th-century building is still in almost original condition. It is also a special location for weddings and parties.
