Castle Heukelum is a brick castle located in the village of Heukelum in the Dutch municipality of West Betuwe. Since the municipal reorganization in 1986, the castle has been situated in the province of Gelderland, previously in South Holland. The castle dates back to the 13th century, around 1280. In the disaster year of 1672, it was plundered by the French, after which it was demolished, except for the gate tower. Around 1700, a new castle was built adjacent to this tower – a so-called donjon.
