Bentwoud is a nature and recreation area between Zoetermeer, Hazerswoude, Boskoop and Moerkapelle. The area was opened on June 18, 2016.
Originally, it was planned to transform an area of 1300 ha into forest with plenty of space for recreation. The plan that had been in development for twenty years was affected by severe budget cuts. As of 2012, 750 hectares had been purchased and only 250 hectares had been planted with trees. In 2016 it consisted of over 800 hectares.
