NEMO is a large bluish-green structure shaped like a ship. The building was constructed at the southern entrance of the tunnel under the IJ. The supporting structure is a metal framework. The roof features a tiered terrace that offers a view of Amsterdam. The highest point of the terrace rises to 32 m. The sloping green façade is covered in copper.
NEMO is the main scientific center in the Netherlands; an educational attraction where the world of science and technology is presented in a playful way.
The building was constructed by , better known as the architect of the Pompidou Center in Paris.
