De Kleine Weerd is a small nature reserve along the river Maas south of Maastricht. The area of 14 hectares is managed by the Limburg Landscape Foundation. The landscape mainly consists of reclaimed grassland and elder and willow thickets.
De Kleine Weerd is located in the floodplains of the Maas on the eastern riverbank in the Maastricht district of Randwyck. To the north of the area lies, also in the floodplain, the large complex of the Limburg Province House. On the south side is a marina with a campsite around the 18th-century Huis Hoogenweerth. The area is situated between the river and the river dike, here called Hoge Weerd, a busy thoroughfare to Eijsden. Parallel to the dike, on the river side, is an old road, the Lage Weerd, which is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. The area is divided into three parts by a side channel of the Maas and the Heugem drainage, with the southern part being the smallest.
