The Gemaal Stadwijck is a polder pumping station from 1921 on the Amsteldijk and the Kleine Wetering in Amsterdam - Zuid. The pumping station is named after the stadwyck farmstead that stood here and which was demolished in 1915-16 by order of the municipality of Amsterdam. Stadwijck replaced the old steam pumping station that stood where the Meerhuizenstraat is now.
I still hadn't been able to find the pumping station that Ad Grimmon had worked on from Public Works in the early 20s. My only information about the location was that the pumping station would be located in the Binnendijkse Buitenveldertsepolder, east of the Amstelveenseweg.
The polder pumping station Stadwijck is undoubtedly the pumping station that is depicted in Wendingen (1923) as the pumping station for which Grimmon made the interior. The building was designed in 1921, in the context of the Berlage Plan, by architect Arend Westerman.
The polder is two meters lower than the bosom level on which drainage is carried out. This means that pumping station and lock are still needed to regulate the water management in the polder, according to the sign. In the building there are two well-functioning centrifugal pumps that pump the water to the Amstel.
