On the other side of the Dommel lies the Genneper watermill. The mill is first mentioned in 1249 as a gift to the Norbertine priory of Postel, which is just over the border in Belgium. In 1648, the mill was confiscated, along with much monastic property. Over the centuries, the mill has been rebuilt and restored repeatedly and has served various functions, such as an oil mill and fulling mill.
