The history of the single-nave late Gothic cruciform church with its built-in tower dates back to the year 1230. Around that time, the first church was built on the current site, which was destroyed by fire in the fifteenth century.
In 1673, history tells us, Claes Reyerse van Outshorn was commissioned to rebuild the church with a presbytery and a schoolhouse. It is clearly visible that the church was built at that time on the old low walls of the previously destroyed church. The observant visitor can see this because of the dividing line between the monastery mops and the rhine stone used at the time.
The next restoration, inside and outside the church, took place between 1953 and 1958. In 1998 the roof was fitted with new slates. Regarding the interior of the church, the pre-Reformation niche in the choir stands out, surmounted by the stained glass window.
