The bicycle path has been constructed on the land of the former farm Willemshoeve. Widow Adri van der Eijk-den Hertog of the last farmer at Willemshoeve, Jacob van der Eijk, was therefore upset when it became known that the bicycle path would be named after the adjacent farm Jagtlust. Adrie van der Eijk then proposed to name the bicycle path after her husband. The names Willemshoeve path or Tankvalpad were also open for discussion for her.
Tankvalpad is a historical reference to the First Track in the Bentwoud which was widened and deepened during World War II by the German occupier to block a possible invasion of the Allies with tanks as part of the ‘Erste or Vordere Wasserstellung’.
