The Schipholdraaibrug is a swing bridge over the Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeerpolder in the Oude Schipholweg, between the hamlet of Nieuwe Meer and Schiphol-Oost, and connects the municipalities of Haarlemmermeer and Amstelveen near the Amsterdam Bos.De bridge, opened in July 1936, is located on the site of the demolished Fort at Schiphol. When the growth of Schiphol Airport, which opened in 1920, resulted in increasing traffic, the capacity of the Sloterbrug was insufficient. Earlier, in 1926, as part of the Primary Road Plan of the Province of North Holland, it had been decided to develop the Spaarnwouderweg into a motorway.
