This is the tea dome on the Vecht that belongs to the Herteveld estate.
Herteveld with its large windows and white-plastered walls is located on the west bank of the Vecht, just outside the built-up area of Maarssen. Around the house is a park with a lawn, along which an oval driveway runs.
Herteveld or Hartevelt was built between 1630 and 1650 by order of Dirck van Sinnick. In 1804 the house was plastered by order of Gerard van der Zoo and provided with elongated windows. In 1870 a major renovation followed and in 1979-1980 Herteveld was restored. The fencing with stone pillars dates from 1790; The ornamental vases on the pillars were added later (19th century).
On the Straatweg are the former coach house, the orangery and the former gardener's house from the 17th century. The coach house probably dates from the first quarter of the 19th century and has been changed several times over time. Behind it is a 'slatted tent', a wooden gazebo from the 19th century.
The orangery from the first half of the 18th century was rebuilt in the 19th century. Striking is the placement of a tea dome (called Chinese tent) against the corner of the orangery, which is somewhat hidden behind the left of the house, on the edge of the park.
