University Library Twente

The University Library Twente is the library of the University of Twente. In addition to offering physical books and other media, the university library is also responsible for a large part of other facilities and services for students.

When the third technical university in the Netherlands was established in 1961, a corresponding library was also founded. In the early years, the library services were still basic. The library services were housed in a villa in the center of Enschede. With the completion of the first buildings on the TH Twente campus, the first space built as a library was also taken into use. With the emergence of various faculties, the corresponding faculty libraries also came into being. In 1971, the building "De Vrijhof" was completed, which includes the Central library.
