The Church of Our Lady of the Ascension is a Roman Catholic church building in Philippine, located at Philipsplein 10.Philippine had a church building at Gentsebreedstraat 1, built in 1862 to a design by P. Soffers. This was replaced in 1924 by a new building on Philipsplein, which was designed by Hubert van Groenendael. Since then, the church on the Gentsebreedstraat has been used as a patronage building, to which the tower was lowered in 1929, and eventually a supermarket was built in it. In 1944, the church on Philipsplein was destroyed by the violence of war.
