Bornia-Heidestein is a nature reserve that consists of three parts; Heidestein, Bornia, and Noordhout, which are located from west to east respectively. Together, they form an area of 642 ha, the largest contiguous area of the Utrecht Landscape, with Bornia being the largest at 289 ha. Bornia is situated between Zeist, Austerlitz, and Driebergen-Rijsenburg in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The A12 forms the southern boundary of the nature reserve. Bornia is mainly covered by forests and heath. Characteristic of the area are the drifting sands.
