In the 1920s, a Sacred Heart Chapel was built next to the St. Willibrord Church. It wasn't until 1933, during the occasion of Pastor Hendrik Roes' fortieth priest anniversary, that a Sacred Heart statue was placed in the chapel. The statue was designed by August Hermans and crafted in the 's-Hertogenbosch workshop of Van Bokhoven and Jonkers. The chapel was demolished in the first half of the 1960s, and the statue was relocated. In 1993, it was placed on Kruisstraat. The statue has been repeatedly vandalized and restored.
