The area is located along the Oostrumse Beek. It is owned by the municipality of Venray and is managed by Staatsbosbeheer.
The Leunse Paes consists of swamp forest, ponds, peat bogs, wet grasslands, and dry forest. Various waterbirds, including the great egret, and the beaver can be found here.
