The history of this farm dates back to 1452. The current closed farm originates from the 17th century and has, in addition to a residential house and a barn, an entrance wing with a gatehouse, which features a dovecote above the gate. The commission for the construction was given by Herman van Hollogne.
The Tonnedenhof, which currently houses a riding school, also includes an extensive estate in the valley of the meandering Roer between Roermond and Melick. Part of it is meadows, another part is nature reserve and open to the public. Here, a walking trail has been set out. It is rugged nature where cut-off meanders of the Roer can also be found.
