The Rust en Vreugd Estate is part of a dozen estates, which together form a green buffer between The Hague and Leiden. The area of the Rust en Vreugd estate is almost 70 hectares. A combination of forest, park and meadow on a subsoil of sand and peat creates a varied landscape and a great diversity of flora and fauna.

On the estate there are 13 characteristic houses, an apartment building, a studio and a work shed. They all contribute in their own way to the cultural-historical value of the Rust en Vreugd estate. The foundation, residents and owners jointly ensure the good state of conservation of these buildings. The Rust & Vreugd Foundation is responsible for the conservation and management of the estate. The foundation has concluded (inheritance) lease agreements with the municipality of Wassenaar and a number of private entrepreneurs. They take care of the daily management of roads and paths, forest and meadow.
