The stream valley of the Dinkel was created in the penultimate ice age, more than 100,000 years ago. The stream, which is about 90 kilometers long, originates in Germany and enters the Netherlands below the Dutch town of Losser. The Dinkel is one of the few streams in the Netherlands that still meanders strongly through the landscape, which can be seen beautifully around Denekamp.
