From the mid-fifties of the last century, sand, gravel and marl were extracted in the Blom quarry.
The former operator and namesake of the quarry transformed the seven-hectare area into a true natural paradise after the operation was terminated.
Steep slopes of marl rocks alternate with flowery flatter parts. A large puddle has formed in a deep hole and throughout the quarry there are small, regularly dry pools.
The special natural values are maintained by the Limburg Landscape Foundation in collaboration with a group of volunteers.
