Saint-Brigida Fountain

The Sint-Brigidabron is a source in the Dutch province of Wesch in Noorbeek in the municipality of Eijsden-Margraten. This is where the Norwegian stream originates, which continues to
drains through the Voer region to the Voer and the Meuse. The Sint-Brigida spring owes its name to the patron saint of the village of Noorbeek, Saint Brigida. The village is named after the stream.
The Sint-Brigida spring rises at the bottom of the slope of the ridge on which Bergenhuizen is also located. In 1858 a stone house was built around the spring in which the water from the
the ground. Then the water flows through the eighteenth-century wash house located here. This consists of a masonry quay, a staircase to reach the water, two spherical ornaments flanking the staircase and a brick pillar with a natural stone crown.
The wash house is a national monument. On the other side of the washhouse a stone wall has been built. After crossing the Noorbeek-Mheer road, the stream can freely make its way
through the Noordal. In 2008, a work of art by the Norwegian blacksmith Math Wanders was placed at the place where the stream flows under the road, depicting Saint Brigida with cattle.
