At Woestduinlaan 55 there is a water tower over 30 meters high, which was built in 1902-1903 on an artificial earthen elevation. After the concession was granted, the NV Bronwaterleiding Doorn was founded by four investors from the Papendrecht area, including the contractor and a developer, and three residents of Doorn. This industrial heritage remained privately owned until 2011 and has been a national monument since 1998. The water supply consisted of a pump building, powered by a steam boiler in a boiler house with a chimney, a clean water cellar, a water tower and an underground transport pipe system to the customers. In the upper section of the tower there is an iron water reservoir of 150 m³. The water pumped up at a depth of less than 40 metres comes from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The rainwater stays there for 80 to 100 years in the sandy soil. Water extraction will be terminated in 2024 due to a real risk of contamination.
PS: this building is not 6-sided :-)
